Many people consider a world without war impossible. Humanity has lived with war throughout almost all of recorded history. Empires rose through violence, borders were shaped through conquest and entire civilisations normalised organised killing as part of political reality. Even many pacifists assume that wars can perhaps be reduced, limited or postponed, but never fully eliminated. Modern political realism often treats conflict as an unavoidable law of human existence.
