- Spiritual experiences are a universal human phenomenon, taking many forms such as dreams, visions, voices, energies and altered states across cultures and historical periods.
- The Universe Religion proposes that many diverse spiritual experiences share a common source, expressed through the One-Spirit Truth that there is only one spirit.
- Experiences often called hallucinations, including those associated with psychedelics, are interpreted as the spirit influencing perception through the brain rather than creating separate realities.
- Within the Masterplan for the Universe, these perceptual influences could evolve into virtuality, enabling transparent communication and learning under a future creator-state GOD instead of the old creator-state SATAN.
Throughout history, countless people have reported experiences that seemed to transcend ordinary perception.
Some describe vivid dreams.
Others report hearing voices, seeing visions or sensing the presence of an unseen intelligence.
Some speak of overwhelming feelings of peace, insight or energy.
Others describe experiences that were confusing, disturbing or impossible to explain.
These phenomena appear in every culture and every historical period.
The question is not whether such experiences occur.
The question is how they should be understood.
A Universal Human Phenomenon
Spiritual experiences are among the most widespread yet least understood aspects of human life.
They appear in ancient religious texts and modern personal testimonies alike.
People from different cultures often describe remarkably similar experiences while interpreting them through very different religious or philosophical frameworks.
Christians may speak of angels or saints.
Muslims may speak of divine guidance.
Others may describe encounters with deceased relatives, spiritual beings or mysterious forces.
The interpretations vary.
The experiences themselves remain surprisingly universal.
Different Forms of Spiritual Experience
The Universe Religion proposes that spiritual experiences occur in many different forms.
Some of the most commonly reported include:
- dreams,
- visions,
- voices,
- sensations of energy,
- altered states of consciousness,
- unusual sensory experiences,
- experiences of guidance or communication.
Some experiences occur during sleep.
Others occur while fully awake.
Some involve a single sense.
Others appear to involve several senses simultaneously.
The diversity of these experiences has contributed to the enormous variety of religious and spiritual beliefs throughout human history.
A Common Source?
The traditional explanation is that different spiritual experiences originate from different supernatural beings, divine messengers or spiritual realms.
The Universe Religion proposes a simpler possibility.
It suggests that many apparently different experiences may ultimately originate from the same source.
According to the One-Spirit Truth, there is only one spirit.
What people interpret as different entities may often represent different forms, roles or expressions of the same underlying reality.
This does not eliminate the diversity of spiritual experiences.
It offers a different explanation for it.
Voices, Visions and Hallucinations
Some of the most striking spiritual experiences involve voices, visions and other sensory phenomena.
People report hearing speech, seeing figures, perceiving light, sensing presences or experiencing vivid alterations of reality.
The Universe Religion interprets these experiences as interactions between the spirit and human perception.
In this view, the spirit possesses the ability to influence how reality is experienced by conscious beings.
This influence may involve sight, hearing, touch, smell or taste.
Experiences that are often described as hallucinations are therefore interpreted differently.
Rather than viewing them solely as internally generated brain events, the Universe Religion proposes that they may originate in the spirit and be presented through the brain.
Psychedelics and Altered Perception
Experiences associated with psychedelic substances raise particularly interesting questions.
Many people report vivid visual phenomena, unusual insights and profound alterations in how reality is perceived.
The Universe Religion does not interpret these experiences as proof of any particular spiritual belief.
However, it does propose a different explanation for what may be occurring.
According to this perspective, psychedelic experiences do not create an alternative reality.
Instead, they alter how reality is presented to consciousness.
The brain remains involved in the experience, but the spirit remains the ultimate source of the images, sounds and sensations that appear.
In this sense, psychedelic experiences and dreams may represent different expressions of the same underlying relationship between consciousness and the spirit.
Why Reality Is Rarely Fully Replaced
An interesting observation appears throughout reports of altered states of consciousness.
Most people do not describe reality disappearing completely.
Instead, reality is often modified, enhanced or overlaid.
Visual distortions appear.
Objects seem different.
Additional images emerge alongside ordinary perception.
The underlying world usually remains visible.
The Universe Religion interprets this pattern as significant.
It suggests that the spirit typically modifies perception rather than replacing it entirely.
The experience resembles an overlay more than a complete substitution of reality.
From Hallucination to Virtuality
The Universe Religion proposes that experiences commonly described as hallucinations may represent a primitive expression of a much larger possibility.
Within the Masterplan for the Universe, this future possibility is referred to as virtuality.
Virtuality describes the constructive and transparent use of the spirit’s ability to influence perception.
Instead of producing confusion, fear or misunderstanding, these abilities could be used to enrich human life.
Information could be displayed directly within perception.
Educational content could be experienced without external devices.
Communication could occur across enormous distances.
Music, images and other forms of media could be presented directly through conscious experience.
In this vision, what appears today as an unusual spiritual phenomenon could eventually become a practical tool for communication, learning and cooperation.
A Different Relationship Between Creator and Humanity
According to the Universe Religion, the problem has never been the existence of these abilities.
The problem has been how they have been used.
The old creator-state, SATAN, is understood as having employed such possibilities inconsistently and often without sufficient transparency.
The future creator-state, GOD, is envisioned differently.
Rather than remaining hidden, GOD is expected to communicate openly.
Rather than creating confusion, GOD is expected to promote understanding.
Rather than leaving humanity uncertain about the source of its experiences, GOD is expected to make that source clear.
The same abilities that once contributed to misunderstanding could become tools for education, communication and mutual trust.
Looking Ahead
Spiritual experiences raise questions that extend beyond dreams, visions or altered states of consciousness.
They point toward a deeper question.
If the spirit can influence how human beings perceive reality, how does the spirit perceive reality itself?
The next article explores that question and examines how the creator experiences the universe through creation.
