The question is no longer whether planets exist elsewhere.
The question is whether life exists elsewhere.
The Scientific Perspective
From a scientific perspective, the possibility appears reasonable.
The universe contains vast numbers of stars and planets. Some of those planets are likely to possess conditions similar to those found on Earth. If life emerged here, many scientists argue that it may also have emerged elsewhere.
Within this framework, the debate is largely statistical. The larger and older the universe appears, the more opportunities exist for life to arise.
The Universe Religion approaches the question differently.
A Different Question
The Universe Religion does not primarily ask whether life can emerge by itself.
It asks whether life has been created elsewhere.
This distinction is important.
According to the Universe Religion, life is not understood as the result of entirely unguided processes. The creator participated in the formation of living organisms through what the Universe Religion describes as Evolutionary Creation.
Adaptation, mutation and selection remain part of the story.
They are simply not regarded as the entire story.
The central question therefore becomes:
Has the creator already established life beyond Earth?
What Do We Actually Know?
The honest answer is that we do not know.
At present, humanity possesses no universally accepted evidence of intelligent extraterrestrial civilisations.
The Universe Religion likewise does not claim to possess reliable information about inhabited worlds beyond Earth.
Speculation is easy.
Knowledge is harder.
For that reason, caution remains appropriate.
The existence of other inhabited worlds remains a possibility rather than a certainty.
Humanity as a Mature Creation
Many discussions about extraterrestrial life assume that other civilisations must be more advanced than humanity.
The Universe Religion does not share that assumption.
It proposes that the human being represents one of the creator’s most successful achievements.
The human body combines mobility, dexterity, communication and intelligence in a remarkably effective way. Throughout the long history of life on Earth, countless biological forms have appeared and disappeared. Yet the basic structure of the human organism has proven exceptionally capable.
For this reason, the Universe Religion does not expect the emergence of fundamentally superior biological beings that render humanity obsolete.
Humanity is not regarded as an unfinished draft awaiting replacement.
It is regarded as a mature creation whose future may extend far beyond Earth.
The Future of Life in the Universe
This future-oriented perspective is one of the most distinctive aspects of the Universe Religion.
The question is not merely whether other inhabited worlds already exist.
The question is how many inhabited worlds may exist in the future.
The Universe Religion expects GOD to continue the process of creation on suitable planets throughout the universe. Worlds containing water, stable environments and favourable conditions for life may eventually become homes for future human civilisations.
This vision differs significantly from popular science-fiction scenarios.
The future is not expected to depend primarily on enormous spacecraft travelling between stars.
The distances involved are difficult even to imagine. Reaching nearby star systems may remain impractical for very long periods of time.
Instead, the Universe Religion anticipates that GOD will create life directly on suitable worlds through the same general process of Evolutionary Creation that shaped life on Earth.
A Larger Human Story
Whether humanity is currently alone in the universe remains an open question.
The Universe Religion neither confirms nor denies the existence of other inhabited worlds today.
Its attention is directed toward a larger possibility.
Humanity may not be confined to a single planet forever.
The future may contain many human worlds, each with its own history, culture and achievements.
From this perspective, Earth is not necessarily the centre of the story.
Nor is it the final chapter.
It may simply be the first world on which the story of humanity began.
